Hi there,
anyone have any experience at breeding Congo Tetras? I've got a couple of BIG females (at least I think they're females!) and I'm thinking of having a go at breeding them in the near future. I have a breeding tank 30" x 12" x 12" with driftwood, heavily planted, java moss and sponge filtration. Any tips?

My dad has bred them I have just phoned him and hear goes:

He said the important points are

1 a large tank with plenty of swimming space
2 77 -81 degrees F.
3 water should be soft and slightly acid (my dad filtered rain water through peat this got it spot on it looks a bit murky but works fine)

They can lay 200 eggs in one go. The eggs hatch after about a week it is best to remove the parents after that. The water is the important bit. Hope it helps he said the eggs are very large

Regards Stottys Dad

Thanks guys, I'd seen info on other sites, but I knew somebody here would have personal experience of breeding them!
Let u know how it goes if I can find some nice males for the two females.
What ratio male to females are best for breeding by the way?
Is it one on one, two males per female or two females per male?
Thanks again.
(and thank you Stottys DAD!)
