This is a two part question:
A) I had a breeding pair of cons in a 20 GAL by themselves and all they do is stay crammed in this little cubby hole/cave thing 24 hours a day & barely even come out to eat. Is this weird? What they heck are they doing, I know they're not scared of anything bc they're wasnt anything else in the tank with them at that time?

B) So to stimulate activity I put 4 really small Jewel Cichlids in w/the breeding pair of Cons and nothing has changed. They still stay crammed into that cave but one day really soon they're gonna be too big to both stay in their cave so they'll have to come out. Anyway my question is is it best to leave the two Cons in their completely by themselves or leave the 4 Jewels in the tank with them as far as breeding purposes go? Will the Jewel Cichlids in the tank keep them from breeding or will it help expedite the situation?

The Cons just bred about a month ago at a friends house and he gave them to me when the babies were big enough to do so. So how often do they normally breed w/proper conditions? Will it be another month, 3 months, 6 months, longer?

Also I wanted to ask if you guys have ever heard of Blueberry Oscars. Im sure you have but I hadnt ever seen them before and it blew me away when I looked into a tank full of baby oscars at a LFS and saw 2 baby blue & pastel yellow colored Oscars! I didnt know the things existed and its always just really cool to see a new species for the first time. I was so close to buying one just bc they looked so neat but I just couldnt do it bc I just really really dont like oscars! Anyway just thought I'd tell you guys about them, I almost bought them bc I figured someone on here would want them and I like doing nice things for people but I didnt wanna get stuck w/2 oscars if nobody wanted them!

Don't buy them. They aren't a new species. They are dyed.

They're probably tending to eggs. I wouldn't doubt it at all. I'd remove the Jewels unless you want to see them ripped to shreds in a week. And because that tank is far too small for all of those.

Convicts will breed, like clockwork, usually every 2 or 3 weeks. If a breeding pair went without a batch of fry for two months, they'd be the convict equivelent of Sex Camels.

DO NOT BUY "BLUEBERRY OSCARS". They are NOT a new species. They are dyed fish. Check out www.deathbydyeing.org . It's a cruel practice, and the fish usually suffer health problems from it, and after a month or two, go back to their original color. Do not buy ANY dyed fish. I can almost garantee no one on here would buy a dyed fish no matter what.

Stupid teens and lousy parents buy the dyed fish. I hate it.

If a convict isnt breeding, it musn't be in any water.
Try taking out the cave and seeing wht affect it has on the cons. Add some more 'shade'.

Most dyed fish loose thier colour after a couple of months, then they suffer premature death, weaker immune systems, some can be infertile. All kinds of things.

Yeah, your cons are probably breeding. I couldn't figure out what mine were doing the first time they laid eggs either ;)

Nevermind, I looked inside the little cave w/a flashlight and I found out what they were doing the whole time in their.... Breeding! I saw a bunch of fertilized eggs!

I took the Jewels out, the Jewels are all babies so the tank didnt really seem that crowded. The Jewels are all under an inch and heck even the Cons are really small, I cant believe their already at sexual maturity at this size!!
