I did it in a 20 long, but I want to see if they will in a 10. This isn't their permanent home, I will have them in my 75, but if I want them to breed could I in a 10?

Has anyone bred them in a 10 or anything less than a 10?

yes they could breed in the tank but people say 20 as its more space for the female to hide from the male also in a 10 the male will be more aggressive and i will be harder to raise the fry as the is not alot of space to grow

You can spawn convicts in a bowl. Not that I would allow it, it COULD be done in something like a 1G jar or something. They'll spawn given any circumstances. But yes, you can spawn them in a 10G. My male was always the wquiet one, no aggressiveness in a 20 high so maybe your's wil be fine also??? Just add lots of caves, plants(live/plastic), rocks, caves etc. No gravel. Or maybe sand. But no gravel allows you to feed the fry better.

had mine in a 16 for a while and it was a bit squished, my male was persistant and the female eventually gave him a piece of her mind and he backed off a little. It is very hard to strike a balance between lots of caves to hide and enough swimming room to get away esp. in a lil 10. if your cons arent too aggressive try it but may not work :) 16 would be a min reccommendation from me

As above. I agree. In my 18G I had my cons in, they were my first pair, they're my only cons to this day, and they show next to no aggression. But I had so many caves and rocks/plants etc because they would not stop harassing my pleco. So I needed as much space for him. But I didnt relise that a 35G tank was no more than 1 foot away. Just didnt think the other plecs would allow him. But now he's the king.
