is it a good idea to try to put both in one tank? it would be one breeding pair of convicts and 4 mollies (3 fem, one male) I breed them for feeders so if the male is too aggressive I tend to just feed him to my red wolf or ornate bichir.
So in that way I do try and keep aggression way down.
I do know the mollies will try to eat the fry if not seperated (both convict fry and they're own fry) and I know convicts care for their young but idk if they can fight off 4 mollies at once. I usually have the molly give birth, in a breeder box in the ten ga after acclimating her to the water, and simply let the fry go into the ten to grow up. should I seperate the convict fry? or let the parents guard them? Or even divide the tank? its a bit larger then a 30, whcih from my research seems to be big enough for 4 mollys and 2 convicts, also may be adding a couple of those small oto algea eating catfish to help clean up.
thanks for the input in advance, Dr. Gonzo
