Ive got an extra 10g and thought I would throw in my two convict pairs (all 2"). Im not really trying to focus on this, its just an extra tank I thought I would put something in. I placed two flowerpots in the aquarium, I feed them blood worms and flakes, daily %25 cooler water changes (simulating rainy season). I know its a very small tank, think it will work?

Im cleaning the tank now, didnt realize how dirty it was on the outside.

Thanks :)

That looks like a perfect setup for breeding but I do not think it will work for two pairs, they will simply fight each other to death. Throw one pair in there and you should start laying eggs in no time...

EDIT: tank kind of looks like a 5 gallon to me, what is the footprint?

definitely don't go with 2 pairs. I imagine the first pair to spawn would kill the other pair. in time a 10 gallon won't be big enough for even one pair. if you start of with very small cons (~1") then it will work for several months, but as they approach 2.5-3" they'll need more space. I had a pair, the male was ~2.5" and the female no more than 2" in a 20 long and there were aggression issues between them once they spawned.

:)

Definitely only one pair, temporarily. I'd up the tank size to about 15gal long, minimum, for one pair only.

I agree with the previous posters, good advice. One pair (only!) should be OK for a while, but an upgrade should be in the works, maybe a 20?? hopefully more.

Just be ready for a little more aggression between the parents and be sure to perform water changes often, as even without spawn in the tank, there will be plenty of waste to remove from such a small tank.

after about a year they'll need, imo a 29 at least or better yet a 30 long. I had problems with my old pair in a 20 long and they were still under 3" at the time. :)

I AGREE I HAVE HAD SUCCESS UNFORTANETLY WITH BREEDING CONVICTS AND I AGREE WITH EVERYTHING EXCEPT FOR LOWERING WATER TEMP RASIE IT TO 84 DEGRESS THEN FEED ONLY BLOODWORMS AND WITHIN 2 WEELKS IF NOT SOONER U WILL HAVE MORE THAN U WANT TRUST ME THE ARE WORST THAN ROACHES I HAD A PAIR THAT WOULD FIGHT A MUCH LARGER MIDAS AND OSCAR WAS FRY WAS FREE SWIMMING.SO I REMOVED PAIR AND LET THE MIDAS AND OSCAR FEAST ON FRY THEN GOT A BLACK BELT AND REINTRODUCED THE MALE CONVICT TO MY BIG TANK AND HE WAS KILLED IN HOURS.
