Does any one know how long it takes a female coral catshark to lay eggs, after she has been copulated by the male? I have a group of them, and one of my females is extremely fat! Im pretty sure she is getting ready to spit out eggs! Fingers are crosses, i just need to know about when to keep a close eye out.

Well - Scott Michael's book does have some basic info on Catshark reproduction(pages 227-229).

I've heard that some sharks can go up to a couple of months between mating and the laying of the eggs.

Still, if she getting fat then I suggest start to watch from eggs - could be very soon.

From what I understand - she should lay another within a day. Then about 2 more every week or so.

Soon you'll likely have lots of coral cat eggs.

Its day 2 and no more eggs, but i will keep a close watch! The one i have is looking good, not floating, and anchored to a rock in my coral system. Hopefully it will hatch out my first baby coral cat!!

Scott Michael's book - on pages 227-229 -covers the reproduction of catsharks(in general).

I just re-read the section - I was wrong about the time frame between the laying of the first & second egg cases.

It clearly states - the time frame could be between a few minutes to over a week.

So according to this - it could be any time - up to about a week for now.
