Hello fellow fish keepersI would like to turn my 220 gallon fish tank into a breeding tank for different Damsels. Does anyone have any tips or advice? I am not doing this for the money, just for the love of the hobby. PS I'm already breeding Fancy Guppies and African Cichlids. I also just started breeding Canaries... I'm not just a fish keeper... I love all animals... animals rule:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2

With a lot of saltwater fish, the problem isn't getting them to breed, it's rearing the fry. They usually are very small and only eat the smallest of live foods. Baby brine shrimp are too big for many in the early stages. You should start by growing their food first. I'm not sure if damsels take rotifers as their first food, but I know clownfish do. My father is currently breeding some sw fish. He has had fry from Royal grammas, pseud. freidmani, clown gobies, neon gobies, bengaii cardinals, seahorses, peppermint shrimp and cleaner shrimp. Rotifers are easy to grow. The algae they feed on takes some work to keep it going. The bottles have to be kept very clean, water has to be sterilized as well as the airline tubing in the bottle. Once you have the algae growing, you can start a rotifer culture in a tank as small as 5 gal. A good place to start is Florida Aqua Farms. They sell all the culturing supplies as well as the cultures themselves, they also have culture manuals. I would highly recommend reading them.
