Im wondering how well dollars will breed in a community tank? I currently have 3 males and 2 females in there with a texas, midas, catfish and severum, they do seem to be going through the breeding rituals but i am wondering if the eggs are been eaten by other fish? or if they just dont bother laying due to the fact they know they will get eaten, so i guess what i am askin is do they need to be in a tank on there own in order to breed effectively??

plecs will eat any eggs they find and i would think that the ciclids would kill any young the see, if they are showing signs of breeding put the dollers in a bare bottom tank with a bit of barry white and when there are eggs then remove the adults
that would be my guess anyway

Barry white?? Lol - I cant find much on here about breeding dollars but i would have thought it would be quite easy as they dont really have to do anything, maybe thats why there isnt anything, lol. I may try moving a pair into my other tank then, im just aware of them needing a lot of room, i dont want to stress em out too much.
