Breeding dovii and umbee ?

Can this be done with the proper tank size and precautions in place? My brother n law has a 7 inch male dovii and a 6 inch female umbee he's placing them in a divided tank hopes they can cross breed anyone ever done this

There have been very few recorded successful breeding attempts between south american and central american cichlids. I'm not saying it can't be done, but there is only a small chance that they will produce viable young.

Trace on here has spawned losellie X umbee in his 1400 gallon. Not sure if the fry survived. ..
