Hey guys, just wondering whats the easiest and best fish to breed for feeders ?
I was thinking guppies or platies but they are kinda small is there anything that is easy plus grows to a slightly bigger size ? Is convicts better ? But are they good as feeders ?

It's for my aro mainly and he's getting to a good size now 13-14+

Thanks

concivts would be very easy but they kinda grow slow. and why dont you just feed the aro shrimp, scallops (all aros love scallops), hikari arowana food.

I would go with mollies or convicts
Mollies are good cause they can go salt water also
Convicts would be better though for size and the number of fry they produce so often
I also think they would grow faster than mollies

I dont want to sound negative, but having Aros for a while now i have learned that when brought up eating live food, your aro will more then likely have difficulties changing its food source. As a staple I would not aim at feeding these guys feeders. Your Aro will keep growing until you are feeding a ridiculous amount of feeders. and secondly feeders are not nutritional enough, Id offer these as a treat not a staple.

My all time best breeders were jewel cichlids.

Convicts guppies. anything that grows/Breeds lots and fast.

Yes, it will be for treats and is not for his main diet~
Scallops is no good and not all arowana especially asian aro's will go for hikari sticks, very hard to train.
and MP is no good for main diet so :)

Is convict fast growers if I was to pump them full of massivores from fry?

I've had Silver Aro's and jardini's I'll tell you don't breed fish as feeders for big pred fishes. it doesn't work not work it. But if you are going to do it anyways then I suggest cichlids, tilapia, or goldfish. All of which I did myself. Goldfish is the best and if you don't have the space to breed goldfish I wouldn't reccomend breeding fish for feeder purposes as it'd be a waste of time and money.

But here's my 2 cents feed them tilapia fillets cut them to edible sizes in proportions to your fish size. Cheap affordable and very affective. Ok lets say your cheap and don't want to buy tilapia fillets then go fishing catch blue gills and fillet them ... same thing works every time. Live feeders should be used as treats once in a while only. For daily feedings use fish fillets, shrimps uncooked, crawdads, meal worms, worms...night crawlers. All work but breeding to use as feeders trust me not worth the money put into the breeding setup growing out of the frys to edible size. Trust me not worth the time or money trust me...been there done that.
