I have a pair that was very close to spawning. They were flirting for days, and then yesterday the female's oviposter was fully out. I even think I saw eggs coming out! Now today her breeding colors are less intense, and her oviposter is not protruding as much as yesterday.

Has anyone had something like this before?

Should I go back to frequent WC's?

What do you think the reason is?

Is it just me or do festae seem to be the hardest fish to spawn ever?

I had this happen with My texas cichlids. I think you set their "mood" pretty well. Get ready to be a Grandpa ;)

Yeah, a lot of different variables...I had a Pike that I brought home and she layed eggs immediately in a cave. A month later she was pregnant again but held her eggs for over a month. Turn up the heat.
