has anyone every breeded these crabs. how can you tell female from the male. how or what kind of things do i need to do to get them to breed. i would love to have them breed bc there awsome little cleaners :grinyes:

does anyone even have any. they are kinda cool

It has been years since I had them, never bred them, there are several species but I think they are all primitive breeders that produce planktonic young.

if they are fiddler crabs males will have one large claw, and females have two small claws. I've heard of some ppl trying to breed crabs in captivity but unfortunately don't have any luck due to crab babies need a lot of natural vitamins that they can only get from the sea. But I do admit I've also heard of some actually seeing a female with eggs but then she'll eat them b/c of the environment not being suited for her to release her eggs.

Males have one very large claw, females have both small claws.

I've had mine mate twice, and berry twice too(carry eggs). no babys because it is extremely hard to breed them, you need to do some research. if you are doing it for sale purposes then go ahead, but it's almost not worth it just for the hell of it :(

They need ocean tides and almost oceanic water quality to grow successfully, get a wave maker and some serious controllers if you really want to do this.

Sorry to burst your bubble, i was disappointed too when i found out my eggs wouldn't go through :(
