there are many types of cichlids and plecos each with their on requirements and challenges. do a little research and figure out what type of fish you are able to take care of. if your interested in getting into cichlids and are from NY check out www.*****************.org you will have a lot more luck with cichlids over there than you will on a monster fish site.
