i heard that female floerhorns can lay eggs at 4 inches, how large must my male be to fertilize them....i have a female already and want to get a male tomorrow if i get a chance and eventually want to breed them. they will be in a 55 wit a divider now until they grow a litttle bit, also whats a good tank size to breed them?im thinkin my 55 is too small hah

i think 50 gal is a good size. i have experienced that at almost 4 inches my female flowerhorn layed eggs. however, you male should be mature enough to fertilize the eggs. some documents say that the male should be at least 3 times the size of the female.

just watch out for the breeding tube.

also try to put them first in a divider. if they get along when you tried to put them together that would be great. if not, just put the divider in and wait for the female to produce eggs and then switch the male and the female, to let the male fertilize the egg.

watch out if the male would eat the eggs . if the male ate the eggs then get another male and repeat the process again

hope this would help

thanks guys..i think im gettin my male this week sometime so hopefully they like eachother...i got my divider up and ready

your 55gals would be ok for breeding FHs. your male FH should be at the least, double the size of the female because the female becomes very aggressive when spawning time comes. it could kill your male FH if you dont watch it.
