I can open up 2 tanks at the moment and I think I wanna breed something for profit

suggestions?

the tanks are 10 gallons and 50

how/were to sell them advice would be nice please

Cherry shrimp and bristlenose plecos are hot in my area and fairly easy to breed with the right setup. Axolotyls are popular too and there aren't a lot of breeders around me but raising the young can get expensive.

Here is the best advice I can give and possibly not everything is in the right order. Do some due diligence ahead of time at some lfs around you to see if they buy from local breeders. There is also Craigslist and such. Research tank space requirements before you jump into it so you're not caught by surprise and scrambling for more tanks to keep up. Be sure to attempt breeding something that you enjoy, and I can't stress enough, prepare for it. Don't go into it with dollar signs. It takes a long time to get established. Established meaning, finding the right breeding setup, stock, being consistent with the breeding, breeding quality, and building a reputation as someone that breeds quality and goes out of their way to take care of their customers. It takes a lot of time and investment and one mistake can ruin your reputation and take you out of the game. Above all...start it off as your hobby and see if it grows into something else. If it was meant to be, it will happen. Do not try to force it.

I'm not trying to be a downer but honestly you wont breed much for profit with those tanks. Like Ozzie73 Ozzie73 said it takes time. It also takes space. I bred and sold clown fish and some other damsels for about 5 years started with 200g in tanks and doubled it in the first 2 years. I got lucky as it was aboit the time finding nemo came out so it was hard for stores to keep them in stock. You need to find a hard to find or high demand fish and then hope to breed it. Most things will cost more to try and breed then will bring you money. Trust me. Find a fish you like get a good mix and see what happens other then that id say dont bother.

Thanks for the advice! dont worry Ozzie73 you were just being honest. Do you think I should get in touch with my LFS and see if theyd let me supply them? im tight with all the people there because I go there so much:naughty:, but I think ill do what u said and practice sort of breeding the plecos and cherry shrimp (in seperate tanks of course) and see how I do. Is that a good idea?

My advice would be to start locally. See what sells at your LFS, start with that and develop a relationship with the guys at the LFS.

If you can breed something they will take its a start, even if you have to just break even or trade stock for necessities it builds trust and reputation.

Then if that works you can expand.
I breed albino bristle nose plecos and Electric Blue Acara just as a staple item for my LFS.
I also sold a lot of Festae fry locally and through Internet connections.

Are you interested in keeping either of those? If so then I'd say yes. If not no.
