G'day

I have a couple large gouramis. The male has been making a nest lately. The fish are kept seperately but i think that the female might be a bit young. I read that they mature at 4 - 5 years.

Has anyone bred these? or have any proper literature about breeding them.

My main questions are on what type of plants are most commonly used in nest building. I know that greys/pinks are the same species just color morphs but do they have preference to certain colored mates. What color is dominant if they were crossed?

Cheers for any help...

I know this is an old thread , but I would also like some info , I have two prs in a pond , and now that its getting into summer over here I would like to have a go at breeding the older pr I have...

Has anyone here bred them before?

Not sure if this will help but what I learned with our gold gourami's is this any floating plant they won't eat should work. The pond will need to be big enough to give the female room to get away from his protecting the nest and fry. The water in the pond will need to get to around 80 degrees. Seeing as it is a pond I assuming it is old enough to have food supply small enough for the fry to eat.
I wish you all the best tried this myself last year but to cool here in Alberta.
