Has anyone got working breeding groups I would like to see/ read about your set ups. what works etc... I have a few questions at the bottom .
I have 4 adult marbled motoro's 1 male and 3 females. I was interested to know a few things...
I keep all my rays in the same pool. Ive noticed breeding activity to be quite minimal since my last litter over 8 months ago. Although I know it can be a hit a miss affair whith marbles..I sadly lost the main breeding male a couple of months ago. I witnessed both males competeing for the same female (my largest 18" disk). The male I have seems to be quite lazy lol (hes fully developed massive claspers)

Contradictingly I have a small female that I thought wouldnt be quite mature yet. The male has decided to get jiggy with her
The male bitten her quite badly 64 days ago she seems quite fat at back end therefore I Beleive to be pregnant. she has almost completely healed.

My questions are;
  • When a female is pregnant does it put the male off breeding with the other females?
  • Is it worth adding another male (perhaps another female or two also) ive got room?
  • Would it be worth having 1 big indoor pond or two seperate pools?
  • Does your male stick to a certain female?
I value your feedback guys :)

I am in the process of building a 5000 gallon indoor pond and look to do the same, pearls or leos. I also would like to hear what people think about this.

Aquaman 45 has a wonderful fish room and his rays breed well and are kept in pairs or trios.

When I set up my fish house I plan to have multiple tanks as I think the females sometimes need to be rested and the males taken away to stop hassling the females.

I also think that you need somewhere to move the pups on to in order to grow them out and target feed the pups away from the competition of the larger fish.
