I have a pair of green terrors that have bred twice already but I can't seem to keep the fry alive. After a week the numbers always start thinning out until there are none left and I'm not sure why. Do you have any guesses as to whats going on?

Do the GT pair have any tankmates?

Do your filter intake(s) have a strainer on them?

If its their first couple times breeding, they may just be eating the fry themselves to prepare for a new spawn.

Yeah, look at your filter intake it might be sucking them up, and make sure you have no other fish in the tank and plenty of hiding spaces only the fry could get into...try some java moss :headbang2

The GTs are the only 2 fish in the tank. As far as my filter goes, it doesn't have a screen on it but they rarely go to that side of the tank. I normally feed frozen brine shrimp after hatching. Could that be it? Should I feed something else?

If you want a cheap and easy screen for fry get an AquaClear filter sponge and cut a slit in the middle of it and slide it onto the filter.

As far as feeding the fry, it will take a few weeks before they are able to eat larger foods. My convict fry are doing fine in my fry tank that is just heavily overgrown with algae and has a big clump of java moss in it.

Most fish will eat their young if they suspect they wont survive because they'd rather get the nutrition than lose it to other predators. What size tank are they in?
