I have about 15 all together of these fish and have only about 5 that have come from this. It is in a 37 gallon tank. Every other day or so changing 10 percent water. No background and tank has been cycled for about three months now. How can I get more fry without stressing the females out. I put them in a breeder box for three days and nothing comes out! Then all of a sudden I see small fry out and then a day later they are gone or hiding.

I have a lot of hiding spots and plants inside the tank for coverage but rarely see fry.

How can I get the numbers up in the fry?

I usually buy those plastic plant mats like they sell for terrariums. They are usually 12"x12"x4" and float pretty well. I was pulling fry out like mad.

I put the females in a breeder box when they look like they are about to pop. Then I put the fry in a 10 gallon with a sponge filter and grow em out. Got tons of them now.

Get a 10 gallon tank. Use either plexi or glass and cut 2 squares for ends. Get 2 more pieces and silicone or glue based on material in the shape of a V to the square ends. Leave an opening big enough for the fry to drop through at the bottom. Water level in the tank would be set so fry and mom to be can't swim over the top. That should increase your fry total by a bunch.
Sorry for the quick and crappy drawing.
