hi all !!!

this is my first time trying to breed guppies and i need to ask you all some questions which i hope you can answer.

1. can you keep guppy fry in with cory's and neons.

2. would i need a floating breeding tank to seperate the mother from other guppies and the cory's and neons.

3. is it possible to use some of the fry as a food source for some of the bigger and more predatory fish.

thanks for helping :D

I saw the title of this and started laughin but those are good questions
1. I think the neons would probaly eat them
2. I think that jsut stresed them out, just remove the lil babies when there born
3.YES i used babie fancy guppies to feed my pumkinseed sunfish(rip) but they're pretty slow growing to use for jags, big oscars, gt, and stuff lik that

Hope i helped

I have about... 50-100 guppies in a 55 with corys neons, and crayfish.
1. yes
2. not necessary, but they do help to get it started. but they will just breed on their own eventually. it's generally better to just let them breed because the slower ones get eaten - survival of the fittest.
3. defiantly

Be careful not to let it get out of hand. If your breeding for feeders then just let them do it... but if your breeding for colors, keep a close eye on them and use selective breeding.
I only bought three guppies in the past 4 years, and i now have 50-100, so they are pretty easy to breed.
But i think they inbreed so much now that they have defects, so as i said, be careful. Watch out for Tuberculosis, it hits them hard can can mess with the babys. (ever see a guppy in the shape of a boomerang?)
Besides that, they are an easy fish to breed.

Oh and one more thing, they can hold semen, so all it takes is one.. um... "session" to produce up to three separate sets of babies. The most one of mine has ever birthed was about 50, but i heard they can do more.

Good info, as far as my knowledge extends put males and females together and let the magic happen

thanks alot ill jst let them breed naturally and feed them to my other fish and its ok if neons eat some of them because there not very big and wont take much.

thank you.

My guppie-parents allways stay in the same little tank and don't eat the fry!
When i take some out to put ém in the monstertank 2 days later there'll be more.
But indeed too slow growing to be anything but a little snack for the big guys.

i wouldnt breed guppies. to much money and time.

this is what i would breed for a feeder.
mealworms and other easy to breed insects
Red cherry shrimp.

RCS is a bit more exspensive then ghost shrimp, but it be easier to breed in the long run. the babies are already free swimming when born

thanks everyone for the help but i have decided to just carry on breeding them and see what happens because i have got friends and family who also have fish tanks but no guppies so if it gets nout of hand i will give some of the guppies to people i know and pet shops.

thank you...
