So, my Mom said it would be OK for me over the summer to breed some guppies. Not the feeder guppies, but the fancy colorful ones.

I was thinking of have my 10 gallon set up with guppies in it, with either a breeding net that is in the 10 gallon, or a seperate 5 (or 10) gallon tank for the fry so the parents don't eat them.

Questions:
1- Is there any male/female ratio? (how many females per male)?

2- Is 10 gallons to small for them to spawn?

3- How long does it take for them to spawn?

4- Any certain temperature that the water needs to be for them to spawn?

Thanks, it will be MUCH appreciated if I got most of these questions answered :)

Most sucess I have had with Livebearer breeding is outside in a 100 gallon stocktank with plenty of anacharis. I have too many mollies now. I am donating them to my wifes school for there pond i think

1 - 1 Male to 4-6 Females is good.

2 - Nope, plenty of room. just get some breeder grass or live plants for the young to hide in.

3 - They are live barers. They will start breeding imediatly and females give birth between 22-30 days. So you'll have babies once a month per female. Also, keep parents well fed and less chance of canibalism

4 - 78degrees is fine.
