i have read most threads/post/websites on breeding cren. regani and cren.noto. does anyone have any tips/experiences on breeding these two species??
like habitat/water/current/foods etc.

would help out alot, im debating which project i want to start more.regani or noto.

Cr. noto's are a blackwater species ... come from the same area and water as Heckel Discus. While I could keep them fairly easily in 6.8 pH soft water with twice a week 30% water changes, breeding will take Heckel like stats ... pH 5.8 or lower, no detectable hardness, probably peat to boot. Mine never even showed any sort of pairing behavior. Had two males and two females. Dithers help, these were much more shy than say Cr. compressiceps. Mine hid all the time, even before I added what later turned out to be a psycho Laetacara thayeri. A 75 should be fine for buying a group and letting them pair off. I'd go larger if trying to force pair a random male and female though. These fish do not like each other.

Cr. regani comes from a lot of differant river systems, so it will partially depend on which race you have. Don't mix races, as one as already been seperated into it's own species, though still underscribed (Rio Xingu race). Most are clear or white water rivers though, so didn't need the ultra low pH or hardness. Also less aggressive so pairing should be easier (am guessing since have never located any yet.)

whoo hoo thnx bro i have no luck finding any noto. but i have picked up a few regani unknown race. non have paired off yet.only have 3 so far so i will see what happens.still waiting for new arrivals.

Definately get them to bred for you if you can!! Dwarfs are some awesome pikes! Full of personality at the fraction of the size...lol. Thanks for the info darth, not very versed in dwarfs to say the least. Focus mainly on Lugubris and some Saxatilis! Very informative! :D

proaquatics - See if you can track down the race/river or at least the distrubtion point. Regani's come from such diverse river systems, it would help to know for breeding. Plus there is at least one blackwater race (tefe) and the one from the guapore/mamore system likes cooler water. Oh, and I hate you for finding some.

peanut - Well rather than cram big ones in the small tanks I have, I seek out the pikes I can keep well! Cuase living without pikes is NOT an option!!! :grinno:

I thought the tapajos variant was your favorate peanut???? :screwy:

The Xingu variant was my fav until they broke it off to it's own, unknown species. I'm sure they will do that to at least two more of the races, possibly three.
