okay many might now of my dempseys breeding only at 3in theyve had 5batches the thing is the othe tank mates would eat them so i finally got them there only tank but heres the problem i got river rock instead of sand like there old tank i also threw in there fry they search and gathered them already but i feel like there so small there falling in threw crack will this be bad for further batches?? will they loose there fry?? should i change substrate?? what are your exp??

yeah, the fry will most likely fall in the cracks, you can just add sand to what you have in there and gravel vac it to mix till its a desirable texture, or clean it out and redo completly

well the dempseys and fry are already in there so i guess i cant do much right now

so river rock should go out right away?

The river rocks will create problems. I had something similar to your set up but I just put sand in the bottom so the fry dont get lost.

+1 ditch the riverrock, and use sand, if you have fry in the rocks now wait it out but most likely there done

What size rocks? I say sand:)
