My female has layer eggs 3 different times in last year. I have 2 azuls in a 340 gal together. Is it possible for her to lay eggs without a male present first question. In case I'm wrong on other being a male. An 2 what can I do to help get the eggs fertilized. Cause they don't seem to be doing something right I've yet to have anything fertilzed that I've seen yet. An 3 how do I vent to make sure it's a male. Cause I kno the other is a female. Cause she keeps popping out eggs. Thanks

Definitely possible. If it is a male, it may not be mature yet or you have two females. Do both cichla have tubes dropped? Probably the easiest way to tell without taking the fish out of the tank.

I've had 2 female discus pair off before so it's possible that they are both female... the other possibility like stated above is that the male is not mature enough yet so he can not fertilize the eggs yet... I'm not familiar with pbass breeding. Does she lay the eggs and then the male passes over them like discus or do they actually mate.?

Yes or that's what I've read anyway

They are sillies, the male may not be mature yet. I know kels mature after 12-14 months from everything that I have read but they are a smaller size Cichla. Azulies are a bigger bass, it may take long for them to mature
