ne1 have their cich breed while in a community tank? for the time being i have 3 unknow cichs about 2-3", 3 jags 4-5", 3 dovi 3-5.5", 2 cons m&F2.5-3", 3 flowerhorns 4-5", 2 clown plecos

i ask because i have my jags that seem like they want to breed(i can clearly see the sexual organs) they are protecting a part of the ttank digging whole etc. The have been doing this for a couple days now but no eggs. Are they eating them, is another fish? I dont know.

another thing is my cons? wtf i had cons before and they would breed like crazy, but i havent gotten anything from these 2.

i took the flowerhorns out and put them in another tank the other day, because the seem to be the most agro of the bounch. They are the only fish that my jags bow down to when the come in their area. so well see what happens.

anyone got any tips?

If you seriously want any fry to survive . . . move the jags to another tank. It shouldn't be a problem for them to breed in that set up. I'd be worried about the doviis killing the other fish later on though. How big is the set up? I wouldn't recommend breeding them at such a young age, it tends to stunt their growth. But whatever, good luck. :P

Depending on the size of the tank, if the jags do breed, they may severely beat and possibly kill the other tankmates. I just had a male sajica breed with a female convict/spilurus cross. I will post pics in a few. I had to pull the female and fry before the plecos and pike ate the babies (like last time).

yes all my spawns have been in a community,it is possible but you need to figure out the best time to pull them out, ie too early=alot of stress and food isnt as much aviable if it were in the main tank, and too late= someones lunch.
i havnt lost any fry due to that and removed at different times. ive had sajicas and kribs breed with blue acaras,FM's and others
also ive had honduran red points breed with tankmates like green texas, jd,tho.ellioti, salvini, rainbow cichlids and that tank has something like 8catfish in there including a pleco
but serouisly, those fish will not last long like the cons are dead, maybe the fh and unknown cichlids and the clown pleco as it grow only about 3inch
and if your dovii breed you will most likely have male and female dovii alive if that
