Ok, MAYBE someone can help me figure what's going on....
I have a Jaguar cichlid that's about 9"- pretty round around he belly, and he's got a bulge at his vent region... It's not big at all, but this had just developed within the last 3 weeks.
He/It/She- lives in a 125 with other tank makes, is very timid and not aggressive, but it's the only "swimming" fish in the tank.. the rest are bottom habitants...
I introduced a male midas of about 11" into the tank last week...
Typically my Jag would go hide, like when I placed everyone else in the tank... not this time.. it puffed up, flared it's gills, it's scaled popped away from the body, and it shook it's head and they "gently mouth battled" eachothers sides for like 20 minutes.
The jag resided the dominance, and the midas and the jag are now besties.
Just today I go down stairs, and my jag is rubbing on pots, flaring gills, shaking it's head, mouthing gravel... Kinda like it's showing off to get the midas in the mood...
Am I crazy, or is something really going on?
Here are pics for ref of the Jag....
