Breeding Jaguar Cichlids

I have a couple of good sized jaguar cichlids that I think may breed at some point.

The male is bigger at around 13" and the female is around 9" or so. Can they breed in a tank with other fish? I don't think they can with the other fish I have.

I think the female may be producing eggs as she is getting thick!

In anything under a 180 doubtful. A single male jag can claim a 125 for itself a breeding pair would do much worse. Tank size and tank mates?

That's a lot of room it's possible but I'd be worried about the rays eyes getting bit if they get to close to the nest and the bass being attacked for the same reason

I think they will reproduce regardless of tank mates. I have a Jag and Con that have babies in my 220 and they share it with a Red Devil, Trimac, Flowerhorn and Losielle, all jerks. It might have something to do with dominance in the tank too, because my Jag is a male and by far the boss of the tank.

I'd just watch them closely but should they decided they want to pair up and lay eggs things could get nasty fast. Are they already acting as a pair? Have they cleaned a specific area and began defending it?

Not sure if they are courting yet or not. I noticed the female is chasing some fish which is new for her.

Do they usually spawn on a flat clean spot?
