ok put a post on the main cichild page and didnt get much info.
so il try here.
im geting next week a breeding pair of jags and would like some info on them breeding.
what tank set up should i be looking at ie do thay need some where to hide, pipes rocks bogwood.
should the water be at a temp diffrent to normall.
we have a 6x2x2tank ready for them we just want to get the right set up.
by the way the jags are a top fish and i cant wait :woot:

I use some flat stones (slate) to lay eggs on, they seem to like the sides of the stones, temp about 78F, big water changes with slightly colder water seem to trigger them to spawn, and oh get ready for them to redecorate...they are great at it...lol. I hope this helps

thanx gilly for the info.do i have to split them up when breeding,it just what iv been told and wounderd if it was true.

i may as well ask while im here, what about tank mates for jags or is it best to leave them on thier own.

I would leave them on there own if you are trying to get them to breed. You dont want anything in there when they lay eggs.

bad news,my miss's dont want a breeding pair now she just wants one ,to much bother with it she says so we are just having one young jag about 5inch,any ideas on tank mate for him, thanx for the info anyway.

how big is the tank? I've had a JAg with a demps. a ID and 3 oscars with a pleco ll around6 to 14 inchs in 130. AS long as it's not to crowded any of the ones i mentiond would work
