BREEDING JEWEL QUESTION....

hey boys i need some help, my 2 jewels keep locking lips and moving around the tank like that, I dont see any marks or bruises.. are they pairing off or what?

yea they are, thread needs to be moved.

No they are not Africans... Well if they are both males, they probably just fighting... Cant always see physical damage.. If they are male female... They dont normally lock lips, but could be signs of spawning.. Dont know.

Yes, Jewels are African Riverine cichlids. Thread should be moved.

Ya, I got confused.. I have owned them. lol. Aggressive fish.

very good chance there fighting and not pairing up. from experience in keeping jewels mine killed 4 until there were 2 left and then they paired up and spawned.

Most of the time, locking lips is between males.. Females will do fast darts and nip at other females..
