breeding lobsters

have any of you tried to breed lobsters? i've been breeding guppys and its not that rewarding, i want something i can eat. :banhim: so how do i go about getting lobster eggs? besides buying 2 adult lobsters
 
You are kidding, right?

First, you have to decide which type of lobster you want.

Second, you have to have a really big tank. I mean really, really big. Like a portion of the Atlantic. Lobster breed off shore in several hundred feet of water.

Third, you need to decide how legal you want to keep your little operation. Egg bearing females are illegal to posses.

I just returned from the Florida Keys about two hours ago... I would tell you about the lobster that I caught in my cast net, but catching them with cast nets is illegal...so it never happened. I can't mention the two undersized hammer head sharks either. One was a pregnant female that had five developed babies about four inches long and seven developing eggs. But I wouldn't really know that because I think I released them...yeah, that's it, I released them (into my cooler, that is) :naughty:
 
If you are talking Maine lobsters you will need a big chilled tank and several years to rear one from when they first look like lobsters to an edible size, lol
Build a small pond and raise crawdads and tillapia.

If u are talking about crayfish i can help u a bit.

anywayz HI. crayfish are all eatable and not poision. some blue crayfish have the ability to breed with it self wether is a female or male. it could change sex. that is what my crayfish did. and to sex crayfish. they have 8 legs.on the last leg you will see hole from the place they grow their legs and if that is the case it is a male and if they have holes on their 3 pair of legs it is a female. crayfish will easily pair up if u know how to care them. when they are mating the male will be on top of the female and it is really likely that the female will have a broke arm or 2. when the female is raedy to lay eggs she will then use it hind legs to clean the body to make sure it is clean. then she will start to provide white stuff that will look like sperm. all around her body. she will also dig a really big hold in the corner of the tank or she mite just hide in a cave or so. it will take 3-4 days till the eggs hatch. when they hatch leave the baby crayfish with her for 2-3 days so they can still feed on the mothers body. after then you will have to shake the mother so that all the baby will drop in the tank. it is best to use a net or the filter so it won't suck up any baby. it barley see able. it is as big as 1mm . they will grow really really fast if you give them enough space.
