I know I am very new to the saltwater part of this hobby and I am not trying to over step my bounds, but this is just an idea I had. Now to start I think this would be very impractical for home aquariums, but here goes anyway. To start say you had a 500+ system and all the bells and whistles to go along other than your standard types of filtration and whater movement that might kill plantonic fry (something to ponder over) and you started with a pair or group of fish that can be housed together. I have heard blue jaw triggers will live together so lets use them in this example, or species that wont get along mabey divider breeding like they do with the Caquetaia species and midas of the fresh side. I have also read that alot of marine fish will breed due to seasonal cues. If you could build a system that would replicate tide movement and osmotic pressures on fish during these times (I have no clue what this would be) and the changes of seasons (mabey a chiller?), and I guess the biggest part would be some way of keeping the planktonic fry alive (mabey a refugium loaded with copeopods and zooplankton?). What else would be factors in which you would need to consider for the fry? Removing the parents? Perfect water quality without sucking them up during water changes? I would really like to hear everyones opinion on this. In the extremely short time I have been doing saltwater I have become enamored with how to breed some of the most difficult species and mabey eventually we can have all captive bred fish for saltwater. I also realize this would be very costly but that aside. Can you imagine the pride and self accomplished feeling ( Not to mention the
recognition) of being the fist to breed some of the most difficult marine species?
