Breeding of Castexi

Does anyone have any info on Castexi breeding? I have read they don't mature until around 18 inches but that is all I have found. Do they breed as easily as motoros? Will they cross breed?

they need to get bigger than 18" to have anything happen
and i have heard of them breeding with leo's before

I have never seen a female breed at smaller then 20-24" and males around 18".

Agreed with what Mike said. They do need to be a bit on the 'bigger' side to be good breeders.

I found this interesting article. If it is true they said they have a pair of Castexi give birth to 28 pups! I wonder how many litters it took to get to 28. Does anyone have close up pics of Castexi pups?

Castexi are the only rays I ever bred and I did it twice.. That was a few years ago too before all the recent breeding activity happened. My females that had the pups were like 24" and the other was a bit smaller

Did you just have a pair or did you have one male and multiple females?

I had 3 males and 3 females from 18-24" in a 800g pond with about 8 other rays as well

I think they had 28 pups total since they were in captivity but not all at one time. That would be awesome to have a litter that size. It would definetly pay for itself.
