Hello Keepers, I am about to be getting ahold of another 55 gallon tank that I plan on keeping a breeding pair of black veil angels in. I had thought about getting a breeding pair of keyhole cichlids as well, but i can't decide. I am planning on getting a few cories and a few tetras (I know...not Moster Fish, but hey, I got MTS, and I miss having a community tank:D).

So my question is this...what other mid-sized fish are compatable with a pair of breeding angels, some cories, and some tetra?

I also was wandering about the stocking order. I figured that tetras and cories should be introduced, then whatever I decide on for my other mid-sized fish, then the angels last. Does this sound like the correct order for introducing the tankmates?

For tetras, I would recomend black neon tetras. They are hardy and not the classic torpedo shape, there-for it will be less likely that the anglefish will eat them.

If you want some top dwellers I have hatchet fish with mine, just keep the tank COMPLETELY covered.

I would introduce the tetras then cories then mid-sized fish and angelfish last. Are you getting adult angelfish or small ones that you will grow out?

I was thinking about the x-ray pristella tetras, for the same reason, less likely to become angel food.

I thought about the hatchets, but i think I'm gonna leave the top partially open on this tank, We'll see though. I might just get some glass cut to fit over the top.

And...I'm planning on having my lfs order me an already mated pair, which he said he could do.

Would a pair of Cupid Cichlids and a pair Keyhole Cichlids, in addition to the angels be OK...or would there be too much aggression with this many breeding pairs in one tank? (If I were to do this I might not get tetras or corries)

What do you guys think?
