Are they not able to hatch successfully? This has to be the 10th clutch and the eggs are always gone within a week

Most (almost all of them) males are infertile.

Flowerhorn breeding is tough for a number of reasons, most notably (from what I’ve read and hear) many of the males imported are also infertile. Breeders do this to keep you buying from them rather than breeding your own. I know it’s possible to find fertile flowerhorns I just wouldn’t have the foggiest where to start or how to be sure one is fertile. Another is breeding them in itself, they are extremely aggressive towards one another. If you’re looking for a fun easy fish to breed may I recommend convicts? By far one of the most overlooked cichlid in the hobby. Good luck ?

How do you know which is the male? What if I got a nice flower horn with the female?
Only way to tell is by venting or watching them lay.
During nesting, which one is out patrolling while the other spends time by the nest? The patrolling one is the male.
I have no flowerhorn experience, but agree on the infertility bit.
