Hello everyone, so my peacock bass successfully laid eggs, and they hatched this past Friday-
here's the sucky part-
They must have hatched overnight on Thursday when I noticed them in my 300 gallon-2 fluval fx5's and a decent power-head later...I found about 50 of the fry Friday morning...
this story keeps getting better...
So since I knew they were breeding, I decided to make a nursery tank about 2 weeks-but when I checked the levels the day I found the fry-the tank didn't completely cycle-however it wasn't too too bad-so I quickly drained the nursery tank 50% and filled it up with the parents water...tested it, and it was fine (since I knew the tank wasn't fully cycled, I made (2) 20% wc since Friday with the parents water) so I syphoned the fry into the nursery tank and everything was looking pretty good-had the tank temp almost pretty much the same-maybe a degree off or so...feed them 3 times a day frozen baby brine shrimp...and everyday since Friday I noticed a couple of them dying...today they are all dead
2 things I also want to note: that I did notice the ammonia peak to under 1ppm, and that I think on Sunday I added a little PRIME to the nursery tank-not sure if this can be used w/ fry or not-didnt say anything on the bottle about using caution or anything...***correction, one more thing to add***there was baby brine shrimp leftover on the floor of the tank-what should be done about this-can someone please tell me what you guys do with this situation thanks!***
Please can anyone with experience in either breeding peacock bass or just fry in general tell me what went wrong...
Thanks in advance!!!
