I have bred my very mean male and vicious female. It was my first time. The yield originally was mayble 200 fry but since I was new to all of this I only have like 30 alive. There are eating bbs like pigs. I have started another batch with a bigger yield that is now a month old. YAY

Congrats! I bred some Bettas a long time ago. I ended up with one survivor and I couldn't tell if it was male or female...LOL. I think it was a female with pretty long fins.

yea all I have to say is the key to survival is sponge filter. Since I have put it in none have died.

congrats u should post some pics of the parents
the mother died 2 days ago:cry:. It was a tragedy. I still do not know what the cause was. I will take a pic of the father.

I've had successful batches bred before with bettas. Use to own quite a few! One thing i've learnt is that you gotta have microworms! without microworms, you might end up with a batch of 30 as u said, with microworms, i've had batches of well over 80-100 everytime! U might wanna ask someone for a starter culture =) hope that helps!

Microworms or vinegar eels are a must if you're going to raise your batch percentages. Have you figured out how you're going to separate the fry? Remember, females will often need to be separated just like the males. Keep an eye on bullies, pull them as soon as they pop up. Also, be prepared to cull, cull and cull some more.

Not really I am using bbs because it only takes 16 hours to culture a batch. None of them have swim bladder problem. They are healthy and growing fast. I bought a microworm culture once but the cultivation of it was not successful and plus it takes a week to form.

the bbs work good. It was just the water quality wasnt good because I did not have a sponge filter at the time. For my new batch, I put the small sponge filter about a week after they hatched and they are currently all alive. There have been no deaths to report yet. It has been about a month

Congrats man! =) I only have a plakat myself in his 1 litre betta box! haha i only like them cuz they're more aggressive, more active, and hard to get any disease compared to super deltas and half moons!
And as for the microworms.. =) they work great for me, just get a large flat box and put it somewhere DARK like under the bed, but my only problem wuz "GET A GAS MASK BEFORE OPENING THAT STUFF" haha
