Hey everyone,

My name is Jon and I'm working on a project for school.
It's more of a self-directed learning process that needs to be documented.
I'll be working with fish.

I have been collecting angelfish and have:
1 50% Rio Tocantins Zebra M (LRG)
1 Pinoy Paraiba F (LRG)
1 Zebra Pearlscale M (LRG)
1 Silver Pearlscale F (MED)
1 Smokey (SML)
1 Sunset Blusher (SML)
1 Pinoy (SML)
1 Rio Negro 'Altum'/Rio Tocantins Silver (SML)
1 75% Rio Negro Silver (SML)
12 Blue Clowns/Ghosts (SML)

The small angelfish are steadily growing and hopefully will be of breeding size in a few months.
I've never been successful raising a full spawn and I hope to do so for this project.

I also bought several small Geophagus, of which I cannot ID because I'm not familiar with them. I will post pics up, but they aren't of very good quality.
I'm hoping they grow out in a 40 I set up for them.
I have a few questions about them.
Can they be kept in breeding pairs/trios?
What is the minimum tank size for a group of adults?
How long until they are mature?

The entire project needs to be completed by late March, so I'm hoping everything will grow out by then.

Feel free to ask questions!
This thread might go into my documentation as a source of information.

if u want to breed Geo's u need a min of 135gal or bigger. A pair of angelfish will do fine in a 40 gal by there self's.

my parents have a trio of angels that breed in a 55 by themselves

im not sure what your work requires, but if you want breeding results then i would skip the Geo's. Geo's are slow to mature, look for easier species: work with your angels.

10 angels in a 40G is cramp. You'll experience aggression and poor water parameter, as a result you'll get poor growth on your small angels and your big angels might not breed at all.

This vid helped me about when i did my breeding project, thats if you havent seen it alrdy.

good luck with ur project.

I guess I'm skipping the Geos then.
What sort of fish could I breed in the 40B?

I was looking into firemouths, but would they mature in time if I bought them small?
Also, I'm interested in wood catfish such as plecos or farlowellas.

I'm free to suggestion, so just name a suitable species and I'll look around.

Also, I forgot to add what tanks I have.
1x55
1x40
1x29
2x20high
2x20long

easy just breed convicts, they breed in tanks as small as 10gals, and they breed at small sizes some times. and there cheap

they will start to pair up at 4" get a group of 6 and let them pair up.

Bristlenose plecos are as easy as convicts if not easier. Just grow a lot of algae for the fry.
