I wanna try to breed something. but i am reading alot about how parents will eat their babies. I currently have a 60 gallon long and was wondering is there any cichlid that do not need to remove egg/frys from the parents.

Thanks

There are several but the one that comes to everyones mind will be Convicts. They are the easiest and will multiply faster than you want.

I think Firemouths are a good choice too.

For firemouths. would it be easy to pair them up? ive been searching this forum but when i search up firemouth breeding i get a million results.

Ok :) just thought of them because they are such great parents and will raise their fry which is something I thought was unique but I'm sure there must be other fish that dont eat their fry? Just keep plenty of hiding places and most the time fry will survive.... GOOD LUCK!!

haha thanks for the suggestions. Well as of now. i currently have a bare bottom tank with 2 flowerhorns divided. but am lookin to flip the scene n get something to breed.

The west african jewel cichlids (Hemichromis spp.) are very attractive fish that are often overlooked, and breed like convicts.

If you decide to get firemouths or Jewels etc, just grab about 5-6 of them and let them pair off naturally. Then remove the extras. Make sure you know they are a pair before doing this, like having them spawn once, then you know they are a pair.
