Hello this is my first post but i have been keeping fish for a long time. Anyway I have a 4 inch JK male that paired up with my normal mouthed bp. She laid eggs but they were gone after the 2nd day. I have them in a 125 gallon tank with 8 other smaller tankmates. My question is this was the male tooo young or are there too many other fish in my tank? As far as i kow this is his first attempt to breed as i have only had him for 3 weeks and he has grown lots since then.. thanks:popcorn:

Nah the tank mates are jellybeans, smaller redhead female, smaller texas female. smaller firemouth, same size shortbody zz, and ebjd. Could it have been first try just didnt do it right? I saw the bp lay the eggs and the jk has fire red eyes.

The bp is still aggressive towards the cave it laid the eggs in. i dont see fry but she stil protects it

I sujjest you to use seperate breeding tank if you want to breed fish.Breeding in community tank may result loss of fry and also smaller tank mates cud get killed by the parents.
