Lately I have been really getting into breeding fish. Any advise on the easiest way on rearing fry? Right no I have a 29 with a powerhead w/ sponge that has convicts red zebras and flamebacks. Also I wonder if my breeding tank should have no gravel? I also have a 125 gal I now I need to separate my breeding pairs so they ave their privacy I have a pair of red devils the male is 10" and the female is like 6" or so and all he dose is kick her @ss. The other pair are jack dempseys the male is about 8" and the female is like 2" or 3" smaller. water temp is high and water is crystal clear do I need to divide the tank in half? and if so haw do i do it.

Very hard to give an answer to this. Sounds like you need more tanks. I would not advise breeding multiple pairs in the same tank. There are thousands of ways to divide a tank. From cheesy store dividers, to tricked out DIY PVC/Plexi....Read up around here, and get some experience before you get in over your head.

Your better off just getting two 55s. make a 2 teir rack for them, probably running on the same sump.

If you can't and need a divider, get a black acrillic one. That way they can't see each other and can breed in peace.

If you want to get into breeding further, maybe you should look into a breeding rack?

Get 2 55's and several 10's.

I am getting a 75 this weekend then I am goin to divide it in half. I am goin to do the same for my 125

i suggest you get a 55 for all your pairs and have it divided after the first batch of eggs. it's good to make sure you do this cause when they start on a new batch the fry will eat the new hatchers.
for the red devils the male will eventually kill the female if you keep them together. seeing you have such a size difference try using a divider with a hole big enough for the female but too small for the male. that way the female can retreat if she needs to.
not a bad idea to thin out the herd though.
i'd use the 125 for the RD's, 2 new 55's for the JD's and cons, and an extra 29 for growouts.
but i would just keep the RD's or JD's cause the babies catch about the same amount for the babies witch are worth more then the cons. unless you really want to get all these tanks and food for all the hatchings.

to my surprise my red devils are getting along its just a matter of time untill they lay eggs. they are having trouble on where they want to lay them. the female is holding her own even though she is roughed up a lil. When I get up close to the tank the 2 of them try to attack me so I know they mean business I will keep updates posted

Cool stuff mate. Make a breeding rack for some new tanks tho. I have allready mentioned but it saves space, with more liters.
