So, as some may know my mono pair has only really spawned once but power outage and killed the eggs:irked:. But she has laid about 5 times without him fertilizing. His tube is down and is pushing her around the tank? She is on one side and he is on the other, but he does this zooming to the other side type thing and just stops right in front of her? But I have some questions, there are in a 180gallon tank with no tank mates, just them, in the garage, and the temp is around 84 after water change. But this Cali heat has put it up close to 90. The last spawn that he fertilized, but the temp was 89. Now with that said I have a couple questions. 1) Does heat kill the sperm? 2) What is a good temp for them to spawn? I know they spawn in the rainy season and that drops the water temp down a little, so is it best for it to be cooler? 3) How to get her to spawn? She doesn't seem very active, very lazy, but here tube is noticeably down? Is she just saving energy? Thanks for the interests, oh and also is there anyway to improve egg count to have more fry? Thanks again

Do a 70% water change with colder water and I bet they will spawn right away, it has worked with me numerous times. I don't know if the hot water kills the sperm but 90 degrees seems too hot. If you can get it down to 82-84 degrees I think you may have more luck. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

When I see my bass starting to get ready to spawn I normally do a 25% water change 2-3 days in a row then one big 70% water change with colder water directly after that. Works for me every time. Good luck.
