Is anyone successfully breeding their rays on bare bottom or tile bottom tanks? I have a pair of Motoros that are in a sand bottom tank breeding regularly, but my Leos in a tiled bottom tank have not. The Leo's are close to 3 years old and the male's claspers have been fully developed for some time now.

One of my friends has had his motoros on bare bottom and they have bred for him

I never bred but mine came from a breeder all bare tanks. most I've seen are bare bottom

look on youtube for breeding rays and you will see a ton of bb tanks.
gl with your leo's

I bred my Motoro 4 times on bare bottom with no issues. I dont think having a substrate or not will make a difference to weather your rays breed or not. If they are mature and willing they will do the bussiness.

My leo's appeared mature at 3 years as well but it was not until they were over 5 years I seen any pups out of them. I blame it on our water lol

Had my leos breeding on bare bottom no problem

Had my females breeding at 2.5 years old so it should happen soon

Thanks everyone. I guess I'll just have to keep waiting. I was thinking maybe the male wasn't getting enough traction on the tile bottom and needed the substrate to chase the females around on but I guess they just aren't ready yet.
