Breeding RBP

So I am getting a pair of RBP Monday from the lfs they are a proven pair but owner has never raised the fry or even removed them so they get eaten. Question is I was thinking about putting a 12"x12" slate tile in the tank or several in hopes the would use as a spawning site and make removing eggs much easier. What do you guys think will it work or would another option work better thanks

they build a nest in the gravel and deposite the eggs there. search some of my threads i have pics and videos of them
