Ok so I have 3 platys in a 10 gallon community with a 1 male 2 female ratio. The day before yesterday my platy gave birth and they ate all the fry except for 1 which is hiding somewhere in the tank. Next time I want to get it right. The problem was that I didn't know the exact timing my platy would give birth, so by the time I got home, there was only 1 left. Anyway, I've noted a few things before my red platy gave birth:

Sat in the corner, sluggish behavior
Extremely fat and squared off
Agressive to bothering fish

Anyway I have a 1 gallon fry tank, how can I put in the pregnant platy to give birth without eating all of them the minute the fry see the light of day?

When you're noticing the "symptoms" you could put her in a hang on breeder trap.

Livebearers will not eat the fry for a few minutes after birth so best bet is get alot of plants fake or real the bushy kind fill that 1g with the plants when shes ready put her in she will have her babies they will hide and u have time to remove her after birth without losing fry. The best thing for livebearers is timing knowing the signs and ALOT of places for dry to hide. Plants are the best. Moss for the bottom and floating pants on top too some fry dont sink but sit still at the top of tanks. Which is why those v shaped breeder containers dont always work .

I agree with woofy. Choke the tank full with frilly plants with tons of little nooks and crannies for them to hide in. It also helps to keep the tank dark. If it's brightly lit, they're more likely to munch the babies.
