my red speckled severum are about 6 inches long and this is the third time they have spawned. on the previous occasions the eggs were infertile and i want to know if it is just a question of givign them time and practice or are they infertile because they are red speckled severum as opposed to the standard type.

they are currently in a 400 litre community tank so will not be able to raise their young even if the eggs are fertile, but if there is chance of them breeding successfully i would prefer to sell them to someone who would give them the right conditions as i would feel very sorry for them if they spent all their efforts to raise young in vain only becasue the other fish would eat them.

Sweet! I'd take one :)

I doubt that they are having trouble because they are not the original types. More than likely it's because they are still young and learning how to properly fan the eggs and such.
