I was curious if anyone has ever tried to breed a rtc in an aquarium? It would have to be huge, probably have to be bred in a pond but it'd be cool to have your own spawing pair or rtc lol

The pond would have to be in the thousands of gallons along with a tank of similar size. I'm pretty sure it's never been done before in a home aquarium or pond. If it is done the fry would pay for the tank upkeep! Those little guys sell for like $50 a pop!

I think it'd be cool to breed them, but i wonder if they have to migrate to breed? It'd be cool to have a aquarium that was like 50ft long and had a deep pool sand bars to simulate a river

most definitaly not in a home aquarium pond yes but it would be offly hard to round up all those fry in a pond

Its been done in Asia although I am not sure on the circumstances. That is why we are seeing the short body, albino and platinum RTC's.

Those platinum rtcs are badass i wouldnt mind breeding to get some of those, i wish i could attempt to breed them but im 16 so thats out of the picture right now haha. its so weird how so many people own them but no one has ever really been successful at breeding them besides the people in asia but they have tons of ponds an stuff

If im not mistaken I think they use
hormones to breed RTCs in captivity. Im not sure that you have to, but I know Ive read about it being done that way. Would love to see you make it happen.

list of accomplishments that will happen before i die: Breed rtcs and give everyone one on mfk there very own platinum rtc LOL, its cool how there able to do that.

Anyone know the temps and size of the nessecary tank or pond to breed rtc? I'm pretty interested in this as I have an overgrown garden that should be a pond. Maybe I will experiment with this

id try 2-5000 pond but even that maybe to small but id want it so i could seperate them if they got aggressive with each other. It'd be interesting to try it. If there anything like sun catfish you have to wait till the female is ready to spawn then inject them with hormones so theyll spawn, i wonder where you would get the hormones or if you could use sun catfish hormones?
