I have a trio of Retics on the way :D :D :D ... 2 females at 5" and a male at 4".. Traded some of my fish collection for them. The LFS that got them in for me is treating them for parasites, and holding them for a few weeks, feeding them blackworms and already weaning on to red wigglers.  :D

I have an empty 180g to put them in until they get close to adult size, then I will be putting them n the 375g.. I hope to convert the 180g to the 'birthing and pup grow-out tank.'

I had a few questions for anyone with experience breeding Retics..

I am assuming it will be a few years before they reach sexual maturity.. Anyone with experience know how long it took from juvenile (4-5") to adult (12-14") for them to become ready to breed?

Also, how prolific are they? If anyone has produced pups, what were the litters like? I am assuming the numbers are low, in comparison to Motoros..

If anyone else had tidbits on Retics, please feel free to throw them out here.. trying to absorb some information specific to the species.. I have kept many Motoro and variants, but not Retics.. So any tips and secrets, let us know!

The only guy I know in the states that has bred them is AJ. He lives here in Michigan and he has a breeding group (1:2). Both females have kicked out litters for him.

He and/or his wife visit here from time to time. He is a moderator in the stingray forum on another board.

I am sure that he would be more than happy to answer any of your questions.
