I have an unused corner of the basement measuring approx. 8.5' x 4'. I started thinking the other day "man what a great place for a breeding setup":naughty:

I started thinking about the cheapest way I could put this plan into action, so I sat down took some measurements, crunched some numbers and came up with the number 250. I figure it would cost me $250 or less to get this project underway.

I'm a bricklayer so I can get the concrete blocks for free. The 2x8' planks I would probably have to buy. I have (7) 50w heaters, 6 small filters, (2) 20g tanks and (1) 10g tank at my disposal. The petshop near me is selling used 50 and 100w heaters for $5 a piece. If I act soon I could get another 7 heaters for $35. All I would really need to buy are the planks, a few sponge filters, airline tubing, (4) 20 tanks, and (7) 10g tanks.

But onto the real reason I made this thread...

Do you think this would work? There would be (2) 2x8's side by side sitting on concrete blocks. The upper plank supporting the 10g's would also be sitting on blocks that are sitting on the lower planks, but on top of the lower blocks as to reduce weight on the lower planks.

Perhaps my crude drawing will give you a better idea...

Wow Great setup :D that is going to be awesome post some pics when ya lookiing forward to it :D

I assume the planks on the top would be bending a little. Would this be an issue for small 10g tanks? I assume they could handle not sitting flat being as they dont weigh alot.
