i'm looking into breeding the sailfin sucking catfish i think there called guipisep (dunno if i spelt that right)?

any tips??

I came up with nothing on that name. But if your talking about sailfin plecostomus, then don't even bother. I heard breeding the common pleco is extremely hard. And not worth it due to their availability.

You'd be better off breeding britslenose plecos. Though a breeding pair is a bit hard to find, as they grow slow, it'd be much more productive as they are easy to breed and aren't that common.

yeh,i'm sure they do resemble the sailfin pleco, almost identicle, accept the gipi, grows to like 60cm,where the common pleco grows to 40 cm,and the dorsal fin is bigger on the gipi.i have heard it is very hard to breed common pleco and gipi, due to the fact there seasonal breeders and conditions have to be spot on,but the gipi (i will find out the full name tomorrow)is pretty scarce here in oz,for an 8 cm gipi,i'm looking at $75 aud each.funny that, the bristlenose pleco is dirt cheap coz everyone has them here, yet over there, sailfin plecos are easy to find.

I think I paid $6 for my sail fin pleco.

are you referring to gibbiceps? It really isn't worth breeding them...try some longfin bristlenose instead
