Well...on the advice of everyone, I moved my breeding pair of Salvini to their own 50g tank. Now they stay on opposite ends of the tank.

Here's the story...

Before moving them to their own tank, the Male decided to attack the Female (basically broke a piece of her bottom lip off). I moved her first to let her wounds heal. About a 2 weeks later, I moved the Male in. They flared up and then after a few days, they were on the opposite sides of the tank from one another. I moved the decor around, adding some fake plants and rearranginf the rocks. They still remain on opposite ends of the tank. Now the Male looks like he's cleared out a place behind the rocks, but the Female stays behind the filter intake. The Male will come out to eat, but the Female...not so much.

So I need some more advice...Should I get dithers? Just let it go and see what happens? Divider?

i would add dithers

or divide them and plump up the female to get her more in the mood and be more attractive to the male

try giant danios or a few female convicts they should work we'll

Will the Cons hybridize with the Salvini?

Cons or giant danios should be fine. I've never heard of or experienced cons breeding with salvini. I wouldn't worry about that. Just make sure you have plenty of hiding spaces for the female Salvini, though. If he's ready and she's not, she'll need some places to take refuge. My experience with Salvini, as well as many other cichlids, is that the male is often ready to breed again before the female, the pair bond starts to break, and then I have to remove the female before she gets killed.
